Yoga education: in-person TTC, online continued education, philosophy studies, and more.

I firmly believe that when one is considering deepening your studies in yoga, one needs to do a fair share of research to find a school that not only resonates with them, but who will also match their expectations in terms of purpose, content, and actual results. I have not attended all yoga schools in the world, and cannot tell you which one would be the best for you. However, I can tell you what has worked for me, and you can use that as a reference when you do your own research.

Arhanta Yoga

Yoga Teacher Training Course

I completed my 200 hr Yoga Teacher Training Course in India with Arhanta Yoga in 2011, and I highly recommend it. Not only it was a great stepping stone towards deepening my understanding of the practice, but living in the ashram, in a true immersion style, allowed me to embody a conducive lifestyle to internalizing the more foundational principles of its philosophical viewpoint on life. The asana practice was based in a modified (built upon) version of the Sivananda sequence, and the how to teach classes were thorough and very helpful in aiding first-time teachers to get ready for leading real classes. You may be able to enjoy a modest discount on their in-person YTTC courses by mentioning my code LARA-10-AMB.

Online continued education

Arhanta Yoga has continued to expand the scope of their online courses over the years, with their current offering including: 200 hr Yoga Teacher Training course, 50 hr Yin Yoga course, 75 hr Restorative Yoga course, 50 hr Yoga Nidra course, 50 hr Vinyasa Yoga course, 80 hr Prenatal Yoga course, 20 hr Postnatal Yoga course, 15 hr Mum & Baby Yoga course, 50 hr Teen Yoga course, 25 hr Yoga Philosophy course, 12 hr Ayurveda course, 50 hr Holistic Health Coach Certification (Ayurveda, Yoga, and Hormonal Health for Women), 30 hr Yoga Corrections & Adjustments course, and more. Yogic Studies, where the studio meets the academy.

To put it simply: I just can't stop taking Yogic Studies courses. As an avid philosophy reader and a seeker, my practice would never be complete if it was limited to asana only. To me, delving into the history of yoga, its philosophy, and the study of sacred texts (svadhyaya) is just as (if not more) important than the postural practice. I want to understand, and we only understand by challenging ourselves to grow and seeking knowledge. As of the time I'm writing this, I have taken and highly recommend the Yoga Sutras, Bhagavad Gita, Sanskrit for Yogis, and Roots of Hatha Yoga courses — but this is always changing and the list is likely going to continue increasing. They also offer a subscription-based membership with unlimited access to all courses that you can try for 7 days for free here.
